Terms of use

These terms explain the current HoiDutch learning service and the boundaries of planned features.

Using the service

An email account is required to enter the app. Provide accurate account information, keep credentials private and use only accounts you are authorised to use. You are responsible for activity under your account until you report a security problem or delete it.

Learning content

HoiDutch provides original practice for Dutch language, civic-integration preparation, sustainable living themes and healthcare communication. It does not guarantee an exam result and is not an official government, immigration, legal, medical or professional-certification service. Confirm current exam and professional requirements with the responsible Dutch authority.

AI and speech features

AI feedback can be incomplete or wrong and should be treated as practice guidance. Protected live AI is available only in Adult Mode and is restricted to Dutch-language learning. Do not enter confidential patient, employer, financial or identity information. Pronunciation guides and transcript matching are approximations for practice; the Dutch audio is the reference. Device speech services may have separate terms.

Age modes

The current service accepts accounts for learners aged 16 and older. Learners aged 16–17 use Teen Mode, in which community sharing, live AI and purchases are unavailable. Accounts for learners under 16 are not accepted until a reviewed parent-managed service is available. Do not misstate the learner age group to bypass a safety mode.

Points, themes and purchases

Petals are earned learning points with no cash value. SunDrops are a paid cosmetic currency with no cash value, transfer or cash-out. Google Play checkout is shown only when the verified Play edition and server receipt checks are available. The Play price and product are shown before payment. Refunds and revoked purchases follow Google Play rules, applicable consumer law and the payments, cancellations and refunds notice; related paid currency or entitlements may be adjusted. We may rebalance free rewards without taking away a valid paid entitlement.

Community, notifications and avatars

The Adult Mode Community Greenhouse permits only approved milestone cards and reactions. It has no private messages, open-text posts, links, locations or photos. Participation is optional and subject to the Community Rules; reports and blocks are separate controls. Automatic milestone posting is off by default, requires both Community consent and a separate switch, and can be disabled at any time. Device notifications also require permission from you and can be controlled by category; optional cosmetic and offer notices are off by default. The avatar is a modular illustrated character customised through fixed appearance and wardrobe choices. HoiDutch no longer generates separate AI portraits, so the character shown in the wardrobe remains the character used throughout the app.

Availability and changes

We may maintain, improve or discontinue features and may temporarily restrict access for security or reliability. We will avoid materially changing paid entitlements without an appropriate remedy. These terms and the privacy notice will be updated before materially different data use or paid/social features launch.

Ending an account

You may permanently delete your account in the app. We may restrict an account used for abuse, unauthorised access, fraud, harassment or attempts to disrupt the service. See the deletion guide and privacy policy.
